Barrel Racing Practice

Barrel racing is a rodeo event in which a horse and rider attempt to complete a cloverleaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time.   The ultimate goal of a successful barrel racing run is to negotiate the cloverleaf pattern in the fastest time without knocking over any barrels.  Average times depend on how big the arena is, but usually they will range from about fifteen seconds to thirty seconds. Carlee Pierce is said to have one of the fastest times known, running at thirteen and forty-six seconds in the National Finals Rodeo (Wolf, 2011).
